A couple of weeks ago we went for a weekend holiday to Valencia. We had a nice house with a swimming pool, relaxing chairs and plenty of sun. So what a great opportunity to continue with my colourful crochet blankie, I started a couple of months ago. The blankie is growing steadily, and it will be finished when I run out of yarn. The picture below show my work in progress, but also my favourite surroundings for a nice afternoon of crochet :) Isn´t he just adorable?! Guarding the pool, but didn´t dare to go in for a swim ;) Cute!
As I knew I would be spending some time in the sun in Valencia I wanted to make a couple of summer dresses, that are easy to make and easy to wear. I can´t remember where I got the pattern from, but it´s really easy and finished in just a couple of hours. The one is blue is actually made from fabric from MOOD in New York, which a bought 2 years ago during a holiday. Brings back memories!
Today I had one of my last moulage classes at Naaicafe Rotterdam of the year. We were encouraged to go wild with strips of fabric and a dummy. We had to create three dresses (or work in project dresses) during this afternoon. Next month we will continue with one of the three designs, and see if we can actually sew the pieces together. As it would be nice if you could actually wear your design ;). I don´t really like my first attempt, although I do like the idea of the knots in the middle. (Pictures are not of the best quality as they are taken with my phone) My second attempt was better, with braiding. I don´t really have an idea yet on how you can sew this design together so you can wear it. Therefore I will probably take this one with me to the next class, and try to figure out how this can be constructed. And then with the third and last design I was having a bit of fun with knotting again, and a semi-open back. This one seems more easy to make, in which I would use a basic skirt to attach the top to. As always, when I go to the Naaicafe, I see so many nice things that I have to buy stuff. Which makes that I almost have my own fabric shop at home now :). This time I didn´t buy fabric though, but these ubergorgeous buttons and ribbon. Can´t wait to make something I can use this on.
The trip has been little while ago, but I still like to share some pictures from our trip to Malaysia and Singapore with you. We traveled from Singapore to Melaka (old Dutch heritage town) on to the big city Kuala Lumpur. Then the trip went further to the tea plantations at Cameron Highlands. We went also went to Sabah to see the Orang Utans. The people are very friendly and the weather is o so lovely, so I would definitely like to go back there some time again.
