Gig dress

5/5/2015

One of my final projects from La Maison Victor edition 1 is the Gig dress.

Foto

I made it in a soft blue fabric. It is an easy going dress, perfect for summer. As it is quite wide I need a belt to create some kind of figure and waist in the dress.

Foto

In the instructions it states to use elastic to create the shoulder parts. Instead I wrinkled it and even even created some pleads when the shoulder parts were still too large.

What have you been working on?

Venue top

The first edition of La Maison Victor is still my favorite. By now I have made five items from this first magazine. See below my version of the Venue Top.

Foto

It is a silk fabric, which makes it a little harder to put together. Really happy with the end result though. It is quite wide but if I tuck it in my jeans it's perfect.

Foto

How did I put this together?

First I started cutting the pattern pieces.

Then, adding interfacing at the parts where the buttons and button holes will be placed. Usually, the instructions of La Maison Victor are pretty clear, but at this part I didn't understand the part of the invisible button row. I bought their instruction video and that worked out perfect.

Some pinning and ironing.

Which six to pick??

Attaching the sleeves, et voila, a blouse has been created.

Summer dress

Last week I created a new dress with this lovely stretch fabric

Foto

It is a dress I have made before in a different jersey fabric. As it has a good fit I wanted to make it again. And luckily, I was able to recover the pattern parts from my pile of patterns, sketches and magazines.

Foto

I put the pattern parts on the fabric and started cutting.

Foto

I can see the beginning of a dress here!

Foto
I created the front and back panel, and sewed them together.

Foto

So easy, I just have to attach the sleeves.

Foto

Tadaa! Finished!

I am so happy with this dress and the pattern. I want to make lots more of this one. It's an easy pattern, which can be completed in just a couple of hours. Also I really like the 'wrap' in the front. That makes the dress a lot more interesting.

I already started on another dress again (different pattern). Here's a sneak peek of what will be posted soon.

Have a great weekend!

Summer pants

After selecting the fabric from my huge pile of fabrics, I designed the pattern for the pants based on my size. After trying with a 'test' fabric, I could see the pattern had a good fit, and I continued making the pants from the 'ríght' fabric. To have a nice contrast I chose to make the pockets in bright pink. Putting the pants together was a good way to work on a number of sewing techniques that I haven't practised for a while such as putting the zip in and making a nice waist band. I am really happy with the result and the fit. I immediately started on a new pants to keep on practising and trying to make the perfect pants.

Really happy about the long hallway we have in the house :)

As IKEA has lots of new and interesting fabric I off course bought sufficient to add to my ever growing supply. This fabric I call the "eye" fabric, and you can immediately see why. I made to new pillow covers of this fabric, to make the house more summer ready. Now waiting to see 'Fall' finally turn into summer here in the Netherlands.

A perfect combination

Two of my favourite topics combined: Crochet and Pillow covers.
The initial thought was to create a scarf based on this pattern and yarn. Soon I discovered that the scarf would become rather wide and I didn´t have enough yarn to make it long enough. My plan B of the pillow cover turned out quite nicely. Here´s the "scarf " and pattern in more detail.
Foto
The inner pillow cover is a shiny silk fabric, that matches with the yarn.

My new BFF - welcome to the family

So then I traded in my good old Janome for a nice new upgrade. My new BFF Pfaff Ambition 1.5.
Welcome to the family! This is such an awesome machine!

Although I bought the machine a couple of days ago, I am still flabbergasted by what this machine can do.
It has:
* Almost 200 stitches
* 4 alphabets (wow)
* Automatic tool to put the thread through the needle
* Cruise control......
Yes it has cruise control and it is even better then in my car. I don´t have to push the foot pedal anymore if I don´t want to. What a breeze.

So congratulations to myself. I am more then happy that I treated myself to this new upgrade.
Foto
And it has its own video as well... Need I say more? :D

Flower pillow cover

Writing yet another blogpost on a pillow cover after all the other posts on pillow covers, might look like I am little addicted to pillow covers... Although that is not the case I do have to admit that like to create a new one every now and then. They are so easy to make, and you get quick results. If you want to create a new style in your living room, this is a good way to introduce a new theme.
This is the latest addition to my growing pillow cover family: flowers on a black background. It is quite big, about 60 by 60 cm.

Cardigan jacket

During pattern class we created a pattern for a jacket. I modified that pattern to have a cardigan jacket, in my own size. Today I created a cardigan jacket in light blue/ grey, to go with the work in project dress. The latter one will be finished soon. The lining is in bright purple to give a nice contrast. It fits perfectly and I am really happy with it. Looking forward to wearing it soon.
