Here are the other creations of Saturday´s afternoon moulage class.
Last Saturday was the last of my moulage classes at the naaicafe in Rotterdam :( But the good thing was that it was one of the best classes, as we made an attempt of creating our own Alexander McQueen dress. Or at least, create a dress that was inspired by him ;) The following dress was our inspiration and basis for creating our own (isn´t it fabulous?): So this class was all about sculpting, creating volume and ´building´ with fabric. We first started to put a basic dress over our mannequin (1) where we can pin the fabric on. Next, we added the lining at the front (2) and back (3) of the basis dress. The lining indicates where the volume should be added. Then we added tulle next to the lining. I added two layers of tulle: one around the hip section, and one around the knees . The tulle was added to create the volume on the sides. The fabric of the dress is then supported by the underlying tulle. Then, we started draping the fabric at the bodice. So not yet around the tulle parts, only the bodice at the top. After that, we took a huge piece of fabric (there was some calculation behind it :) and we draped it around the first section of tulle. There are lots of ways how you can do this off course, just see what you like and where you want your fabric to go. This was the most fun part of the workshop! Unfortunately we didn´t have enough time to drape around the second part of tulle. So not a full Alexander McQueen yet ;) Here are the other creations of Saturday´s afternoon moulage class. I would just love to make and then wear a dress like this!
